Equality and Diversity

The aim of this module is to introduce current research and debate in the area of equality and diversity. This provides the theoretical and conceptual underpinning necessary to understand the changing contexts of workforce diversity and the changing equality and diversity law, policies and practices of government, organisations, line managers, trade unions and human resource practitioners.

The module offers thematic study of the area, including sessions on men and masculinities, women and management ; equality and law ; public policy and organisations and their approaches to equality ; ethnic diversity and equality ; disability and age and ideologies and representations.

The expectation is that students will be able to understand how to locate equality and diversity approaches within broader organisational contexts and wider employment relations and human resource management debates.
